The Shaun to be Wild Appeal
Folly Farm is the Trust's most ambitious project
- turning a collection of derelict 18th century farm buildings into a state-of-the
art learning and environment centre.
But we still need to raise £60,000 to buy equipment to give children that hands-on experience of connecting
with nature.
You could help change the way that children experience and
understand the natural world around them.
Discover the life of the wild - for
wildlife that doesn't want to be seen! These great binoculars
help children spot some shy creatures hiding in the bushes
- and get a glimpse of nature in the wild.
Children love pond-dipping and discovering
the secret world that lies under the murky water of our
ponds. This pond dipping kit - contains everything needed
for the young explorer to identify this watery world.
Bags-full of Nature is
a treasure chest for outdoor learning containing everything
a class of 30 needs to experience nature in a creative
way. Hours of fun with small buckets, colour palette
cards, mirrors, blindfolds, bug-eyes, creature peepers,
worksheets, natural musical instruments etc..
Forget Big Brother - see the real
thing with a bird box surveillance camera! Wild
birds nesting, laying, rearing chicks - all in close-up
from our visitors centre, for all to see.
This video microscope allows
microscopic wildlife to be projected onto a screen
- so the whole group can see the tiniest of organisms
found in the soil or pond water. Children can also
take stills or videos of their finds to create
programmes on the computer to take back to school.
A great introduction to sustainable
energy. Build a mini wind turbine, generate solar
energy and discover hands-on how to help save the
planet! Folly Farm has been built on sustainability
principles - the Green Power System brings this to
life.
An outdoor classroom of scented
herbs and bees buzzing around flower beds. A sensory
garden awakens the senses and connects everyone
to the beauties of nature - especially children
and adults with special needs. And it's great for
wildlife too!
Folly Farm is a place for everyone. This
all-terrain buggy lets less-able children and adults
experience life off the beaten track - and get
deep into the heart of the stunning 250-acre nature
reserve.
